Grading and bridge replacement
7/24/2026 update on the CSAH 31 Bridge Replacement Project: This week the contractor finished driving piling for the first pier and started driving piling for the second pier. Next week, the contractor plans to finish driving piling for the second pier, start placing riprap on the slopes in the channel, and start driving piling for the south abutment, weather dependent. The channel will be open to boat traffic Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th. Starting first thing Monday morning, July 27th, the channel will be completely closed to boat traffic again. Please plan accordingly.
Project overview:
Crow Wing County is actively planning to replace the bridge at the Rabbit Lake Landing on County State Aid Highway 30. The current bridge was installed after the closing of the Kennedy Mine. The bridge has met the engineering life span and is being replaced. The new bridge have 12-foot lanes and 6-foot shoulders. It will also be taller and wider for boat traffic.
